A Dutton-led Liberal National Government will deliver $80,000 for exhaust and safety upgrades at the Maleny Men’s Shed.
“I have been a big supporter of the Maleny Men’s Shed from the outset, securing the existing shed from the Australian Defence Force, supporting the club with funding through the LNP’s grant programs, and turning the sod on the facility in 2022,” Federal Member for Fisher, Andrew Wallace MP, said.
“The work Maleny Men’s Shed are doing to combat loneliness, foster meaningful relationships, and serve our local community is transforming lives – one project, one cuppa, and one barbecue at a time.
“I’m proud to announce that a Dutton-led Liberal National Government will enable the Shed to expand their work to boost men’s mental health in the hinterland.
“Thanks to Labor’s cruel cuts to mental healthcare and community funding in regions like ours, the opportunities for upgrades like this are few and far between.”
President of Maleny and Districts Men’s Shed, Duncan Burns, welcomed the announcement as a game-changer for the club and the local community.
“We were very pleased when Andrew shared the good news with us about this commitment, and we appreciate what he has done to support us over the years,” said Mr Burns.
“Our club is expanding what we’re doing and who we’re able to reach, and I’m pleased that the LNP are prepared to support our mission.”
This commitment is part of the LNP’s local plan to deliver for Fisher – and our plan to get the country back on track. Find out more at lnp.au/ontrack.
