Meet Jim
A Message From Jim
Hi, I'm Jim McDonald, your LNP Member for Lockyer.
My wife Deb and I have always called Lockyer home. We have three hard-working children and seven beautiful grandchildren. Our history in this community means we understand our region's issues and challenges.
There's much to be proud of in the Lockyer Valley, but we can't take anything for granted. We have real water security issues, need better roads and have family violence and drug abuse problems to fix – on top of the cost of living pressure local families face.
It's been my experience that working at the local community level keeps you focused on what's important. Having served as a councillor for over 16 years and as a police officer for nearly 27 years, it's been my job to enforce our laws.
Now, as your Member for Lockyer, it is my job to help shape them and make our community safer.
During my 16 years in local government, I've delivered better roads, bikeways and footpaths for Lockyer and supported our sporting clubs and community groups.
It's clear that our community are frustrated with a government who doesn’t have the right priorities for Queenslanders, so I'm proud to stand on my record and be part of the solution to get Queensland moving again.
In Lockyer, we need a strong, growing, local economy. That's the best way to ensure local families have high-quality health care and the schools and TAFE training our children need to prepare for work. A strong economy lets us build better roads, parks and sporting fields.
I will always fight for your interests and be part of a government with the right priorities for Lockyer's future.
