THE RIGHT PLAN FOR QUEENSLAND’S FUTURE
The LNP has committed to providing critical funding to support emergency housing in Caloundra, if elected later this month.
The funding will go directly to Roofs to Recovery, a local organisation with a proven track record of delivering quality manufactured housing, in combination with mentor support, for vulnerable individuals and families.
Under Labor’s Housing Crisis, more families than ever are looking for innovative accommodation solutions, with rents rising, and housing stock getting harder to find.
LNP candidate for Caloundra Kendall Morton said the $2 million project was part of the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.
“The LNP will lay the foundations for local charity Roofs to Recovery to provide housing to some of our most vulnerable,” Ms Morton said.
“Our commitment will go toward the purchase of land for the homes to be built and support 6 one-bedroom homes to help those doing it tough.
“There will also be accommodation for a support worker to help them access services.
“The LNP’s plan is to work in partnership with the community housing sector to deliver homes for Queenslanders.
“The LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future which will deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders.”
John Nicol, President of Roofs to Recovery welcomed the announcement and said it would be of huge benefit to the community.
“Vulnerable residents will soon be able to put a roof over their heads, thanks to the purchase of this land,” said Mr Nicol.
“This is the framework of a Community Residence, which is permitted under the Sunshine Coast Council regulations, and these homes can be built and ready in only a few months.”
Kendall Morton said Queenslanders could vote for genuine, tangible housing solutions and a government which worked for them, by voting LNP at this election.
“Our state needs a fresh start and the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
