THE RIGHT PLAN FOR QUEENSLAND’S FUTURE
The LNP has committed to a major upgrade for the Tugun Surf Lifesaving Club to improve disability access for members and supporters if elected next month.
Laura Gerber MP and a Crisafulli LNP Government will deliver a substantial upgrade to Tugun Surf Lifesaving Club including a disability lift which will increase accessibility for surf lifesavers, locals and visitors.
LNP Member for Currumbin Laura Gerber said the $250,000 investment will deliver on the inclusive values her community prides itself on and is part of the right plan for Queensland’s future.
“The LNP’s funding will deliver $250,000 worth of disability access upgrades including a disability lift and easier access for people with mobility devices.
“Our commitment will ensure this 99-year-old Surf Life Saving Club is future-proofed and ready to continue serving the community,” Mrs Gerber said.
Under Labor, this infrastructure failure has cost the Tugun Surf Life Saving Club a number of their potential visitors, with many unable to physically access the club.
“Queenslanders should have a government that delivers the programs and services needed for the State’s future, supporting our communities.
Tugun Surf Life Saving Club President, Brett Beutel welcomed the announcement and said it would see the return of patrons who have been unable to access the Club due to the stairs.
“This much-needed upgrade will make our club an attractive venue for locals again.
“A disability lift means that we can welcome back our patrons who have been locked out for the past few years, and open our doors to those who use mobility devices and young families with prams,” Mr Beutel said.
