Meet Scott
A Message From Scott
Hi, I'm Scott Buchholz, your Federal Member for Wright.
Scott’s the real deal. He’s not a typical politician.
He wouldn’t ask any of his staff to do a shift or a job he hasn’t done himself. It’s how he leads. Whether it was during his 25 years in the transport industry that included starting his own successful business, or his time in the finance industry where his Commercial and AgriFinance skills saw him helping rural businesses across Queensland.
Elected to parliament as the Federal Member for Wright in 2010, Scott was re-elected in 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2022. He always says this is because of his real life experience and understanding that a strong economy is central to everything. The fact is that Labor’s cost of-living crisis is hitting local residents hard – including families, small businesses and the elderly.
Scott works daily with local community groups, schools, service organisations, sporting clubs, chambers of commerce, farmers and small business operators to create more opportunities for our local region. By staying in touch with our local community Scott is better able to fight for what we need in Canberra.
Scott founded the Parliamentary Friends of Small Business and has served for eight years on Australia’s Standing Committee on Economics. Scott’s understanding of economic issues are strengthened by his Post Graduate with his MBA is Global Business Management. He served as the Chairman of the Public Works Committee where he provided scrutiny over taxpayer expenditure of large government projects. During the last Coalition Government, Scott was the Assistant Minister for Roads and Transport and then Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport.
He also currently serves as the Deputy Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Trade and Investment Growth, and a Member of the Regional Development, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade. As a strong supporter of local manufacturing Scott has also helped form Parliamentary Friends of Manufacturing group.
The bottom line is that Scott Buchholz gets things done – in our local area and in Canberra
