A Dutton Liberal National Government will ease congestion, improve safety, and future-proof our transport network by delivering $74 million towards the critical Buchanan Road and William Berry Drive upgrade.
Federal Member for Longman, Terry Young MP, has fought to secure this commitment to ensure the Caboolture, Caboolture west, and Morayfield communities have better, safer, and more efficient transport connections.
"The Buchanan Road upgrade is long overdue. Traffic congestion is one of the biggest issues raised with me by locals, and this project will deliver the four-lane road corridor, new bridge, and intersection upgrades our community needs," Terry Young MP said.
“We know that investment in better roads means a stronger economy and a better quality of life for locals. That’s why I’m proud to be delivering this commitment,” Terry Young MP said.
Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Senator Bridget McKenzie praised Terry Young for championing this important project for the Longman community.
“Over the past three years we have seen the Albanese Labor Government cut, delayed, or cancelled over $30 billion in infrastructure projects across the country. But the Coalition is committed to delivering vital upgrades like this to keep local communities moving safely and efficiently.”
City of Moreton Bay Council, Councillor Peter Flannery said 50 per cent of our community rate congestion as their major local concern, and my concern as Mayor is that this can only get worse without significant federal funding.
“This project will not only benefit the tens of thousands of residents and shoppers passing through, but also to lifestyles of people in surrounding areas who regularly find themselves in traffic gridlock,” Cr Flannery said.
“This announcement today will help us get ahead of our road infrastructure needs before the population boom arrives.”
This commitment is part of the Liberal National Party’s plan to strengthen our local communities and to get Australia back on track. To read more about our plan, visit https://www.liberal.org.au/our-plan.
