Member for Clayfield Tim Nicholls has announced that a Crisafulli LNP Government will deliver $6 million to fully fund stage three of the Crosby Park Masterplan, transforming Brothers Rugby Club into a state-of-the-art community sporting hub.
“Brothers Rugby Club has been an integral part of our community for over a century, and it’s time to deliver a facility that matches the needs of today’s players, families, and community members,” Mr. Nicholls said. “The LNP is proud to support this project, which will not only upgrade the club’s facilities but also enhance the entire precinct for all locals.”
The funding will go towards building modern female change rooms, addressing the growing participation of women in rugby, and ensuring that the club is fully equipped to support players of all ages and abilities. The upgrade also includes new medical facilities, a club gym, and expanded training spaces to meet Queensland Rugby Union premier rugby standards.
“Our investment will help create inclusive, state-of-the-art facilities that will be a source of pride for the community,” Mr. Nicholls said. “Improved female change rooms are a crucial part of the project, and we’re committed to making sure that girls and women have the same high-quality facilities as their male counterparts.”
Crosby Park is already a community hub, attracting over 250,000 visitors a year for sports, community events, and recreation. The upgrades will not only improve sporting infrastructure but will also add much-needed parking, helping to reduce congestion on local streets.
“This is about more than rugby. The upgraded facilities will benefit the entire community, ensuring Crosby Park remains a vibrant, green space where families can gather and enjoy everything from sports to cultural events,” Mr. Nicholls said.
The project will also help Brothers Rugby Club host national and international teams, further putting the Clayfield area on the map.
“With the LNP’s support, Brothers Rugby Club will continue to be a beacon of community pride and engagement for generations to come,” Mr. Nicholls said.
