LNP announces amenities upgrade for heritage listed site

THE RIGHT PLAN FOR QUEENSLAND’S FUTURE

The LNP has committed to maintaining a piece of local history by upgrading the amenities block at the Bald Hills Memorial Hall in Aspley if elected next month.

The hall was first built in 1920 as a memorial site for the brave local men and women who lost their lives during the war. It is currently used to host various community events, including Anzac Day services, however the amenities block in its current state is inaccessible and in dire need of a complete rebuild.

LNP candidate for Aspley, Amanda Cooper said the $300,000 project was part of her focus on working harder for Queenslanders, while under Labor Queensland was heading in the wrong direction.

“The LNP will restore a government that works for you, with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Ms Cooper said.

“An upgrade to the amenities block will restore the viability of this heritage listed site as a much-loved community facility for many more years to come”.

“Labor’s failures have overseen $20 billion-plus in project cost blowouts that could have instead delivered grassroots infrastructure and invested in our state's historical landmarks.

“Queenslanders should have a government that delivers the programs and services needed for the State’s future, supporting our communities.”

The Members of the Bald Hills Memorial Hall Committee have welcomed the announcement and said it would bring new life to this community hub.

“This proposed amenities block will provide accessibility to users of the Hall, upgrading a 50-year facility that doesn’t meet modern standards. This will allow residents of all needs to access this much loved community hall.”

Amanda Cooper said Queenslanders could vote for the preservation of local heritage and a government which worked for them, by voting LNP at this election.

“Queenslanders must show Labor the door in 2024, to ensure the right focus on delivering the programs, services and communities for our state,” Cooper said. “Only the LNP stands ready to deliver a fresh start for Queensland.”
