THE RIGHT PLAN FOR QUEENSLAND’S FUTURE
The LNP has committed $1 million towards shade and new surfaces, to allow for sun-safe active sporting lifestyles in Wellington Point if elected next month.
Wellington Point Bowls Club, with its active and broad membership, currently operates in full sun. With this commitment from the LNP, the Club’s strategy to move to a shaded surface will be put into motion.
LNP candidate for Oodgeroo Amanda Stoker said the $1 million contribution was part of the LNP’s commitment to preventative health and stronger communities through supporting participation in sporting and community clubs.
“Social and physically activity is vital for healthy living, especially as we age. The LNP understands the importance of preventative health and is prepared to back it in with sun-safe sporting facilities across the Redlands.”
“This announcement supports the Wellington Point Bowls Club to provide shade and synthetic surfaces to allow for comfortable, sun-safe games. And with that sporting participation comes better mental and physical health and supportive, strong communities.”
Daryl Denham, Chairman of Wellington Point Bowls Club said that people of all ages will benefit from this investment in the Club’s plan to improve their surfaces and deliver shade.
“Shade and synthetic surfaces are a game-changer for our players. It means we can deliver social and physical activities for all, as well as providing quality coaching and a training environment for elite players to develop.”
Regular bowls player Warren Chambers said he was pleased to see that more shade was on the way.
“My doctors are eager for me to stay out of the sun, but I didn’t want to have to give up the social interaction and physical fitness that comes from being a regular bowls player. This commitment means that people like me can keep playing, and keep being a part of this great community club.”
Amanda Stoker said locals can ensure this investment is delivered, and get a government with the right priorities, by voting LNP at this election.
“Wellington Point Bowls Club will, with this investment from the LNP, be able to deliver outstanding shaded facilities that provide for the health and social connection that’s so important to the Redlands’ unique culture. I’m so excited to see what the Club will be able to achieve with this support.”
“I can’t wait to see the future of Redlands sporting clubs and facilities being backed in by a future Crisafulli LNP government.”
