Meet Amanda
A Message From Amanda
Hello, I am Amanda Stoker, your local LNP candidate for Oodgeroo.
My husband and I live in Wellington Point and are loving raising and educating our three daughters locally. We’ve had careers that have taken us all over the country, but we’ve settled in the Redlands because we think it is Queensland’s best kept secret.
I’m determined to make this a place where we can all enjoy our idyllic lifestyle for decades to come.
I grew up in a small business family, but my career path has been in the law. As a Commonwealth prosecutor I helped to keep our community safe. I fought to ensure there were consequences for people who harmed others, support for victims of crime and pathways to change for offenders prepared to turn their lives around.
After over a decade in legal practice I represented Queensland in the Senate. As an Assistant Minister, I helped deliver important reform to protect Australians from drug traffickers, terrorists and foreign interference. I delivered improvements to the efficiency and fairness of our legal system, worked to improve the safety of women, and fought to make it easier for businesses to create new jobs.
But after almost a decade of Labor’s chaos and crisis, we are paying the price for the State government’s policy failures in the Redlands.
Redland Hospital is in crisis despite the hard work of our doctors and nurses. Ramping rates are at record levels and our paramedics face unprecedented levels of workplace stress.
In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, crime rates are rising. Our police need the resources and powers to deal with known offenders but don’t have the tools they need to ensure there are consequences for actions. It means we all face higher insurance premiums, as well as the cost of higher security, lost work time and replacement costs when affected.
Because the Redlands hasn’t received its fair share of infrastructure investment, we all spend too much time stuck in traffic, and local businesses find it harder to be competitive. That under-investment in our region makes it harder to preserve our lifestyle, even as the Redlands grows.
It doesn’t have to be like this – but for things to change, we must change the government. That is why I am asking for your support at this State election as part of David Crisafulli’s LNP team, who have the right priorities for Oodgeroo’s and Queensland’s future.
In my career to date, my calling has been to solve difficult policy problems by listening to and working with people who are dealing with them on the ground. I muck in and get the job done.
It would be the greatest privilege to do that for you in Oodgeroo.
