THE RIGHT PLAN FOR QUEENSLAND’S FUTURE
The LNP will deliver the biggest transformation of social enterprise and social impacting investment in Queensland’s history, to change the lives of vulnerable Queenslanders by supporting community benefit businesses.
The LNP’s Social Entrepreneurs Fund will support social enterprises who benefit the public, community and environment rather than just shareholders and owners, and reinvest most of their profits for that purpose.
LNP Shadow Treasurer David Janetzki said the $20 million per year Social Entrepreneurs Fund was a gamechanger for Queensland businesses who exist to make their communities better.
“Social enterprises are businesses that live a purpose beyond profit and can help governments tackle societal challenges including youth unemployment, offender programs, homelessness, foster care and domestic violence,” Mr Janetzki said.
“The LNP will help these start-ups and businesses do what they do best – help fellow Queenslanders.”
Mr Janetzki made the commitment today alongside LNP Candidate for Rockhampton Donna Kirkland to announce a $200,000 boost to Walk N Talk Rockhampton, to create a hub for their mental health support services.
“Walk N Talk Rockhampton work tirelessly to reduce social isolation and provide a safe space to promote mental health awareness, resilience, and emotional well-being, for those in our community who need it most,” Ms Kirkland said.
“The LNP’s Social Entrepreneurs Fund will enable them to fully refurbish and upgrade their space, building bathroom and laundry facilities, renovate their kitchen, put in crisis accommodation and buy coffees for their incredibly important weekly Walk N Talk community activity.”
Ms Kirkland said Rockhampton’s social and community well-being had been utterly neglected under the Palaszczuk/Miles failed Labor Government over the last ten years.
“Rockhampton can vote for the Walk N Talk hub, and a Fresh Start for Queensland, by voting LNP on October 26.
“Only by voting 1 LNP will Rockhampton get a Fresh Start and projects like Social Entrepreneurs funding for the Walk N Talk hub,” she said.
“Labor and their candidate Craig Marshall are desperate to hold onto power, but unless we change the government, we’ll continue to get more of the same under Labor.
“This is the opportunity for a Fresh Start with the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
