Meet Donna
A Message From Donna
Hi, I'm Donna Kirkland, your LNP candidate for Rockhampton.
My large, blended family and I have placed our roots deep into the Rockhampton soil, where we own and operate local mechanical businesses and are immersed in community, helping to address issues like homelessness.
As the mother of six and grandmother of 17, I am committed to ensuring Rockhampton is a wonderful place to work, live and raise a family; both now and for generations to come.
I have spent the past four years representing Division 7 Rockhampton ratepayers as an Elected Councillor for Rockhampton Regional Council.
I want to take my advocacy a step further because the local issues raised with me are mostly State matters, and that’s where I believe my experience in business and the not-for-profit sector will have the most impact. It’s why I have put my hand up to be Rockhampton’s representative in State Parliament.
Rockhampton locals deserve timely access to quality health care. We deserve to feel safe in our own homes. The Palaszczuk/Miles Labor Government has stopped listening. Rockhampton is in a state of crisis when it comes to cost-of-living, housing availability and affordability.
Not one to sit by and do nothing, I helped establish The Shelter Collective – a collaborative, philanthropic, not-for-profit organisation committed to providing safe shelter in Rockhampton. Tired of Labor’s inaction, I had no other choice but to take matters into my own hands. Labor has taken Rockhampton for granted for too long. Our region deserves its fair share.
In the lead up to the October 2024 State Election and beyond, I will be listening to locals in every corner of the Rockhampton electorate – from the Northern ends of Parkhurst, through the CBD, to Allenstown and Gracemere. I will be working with David Crisafulli and the LNP team to proactively tackle the challenges we face locally and deliver the right plan for Queensland’s future.
