THE RIGHT PLAN FOR QUEENSLAND’S FUTURE
An LNP Government will provide an extra $7 million in funding to plan upgrades on the Mount Lindesay Highway between Jimboomba and Beaudesert.
LNP Member for Scenic Rim said an LNP Government would unlock the potential of the corridor by fast-tracking planning of new projects and opening the door to federal funding to upgrade the highway faster.
“Local residents know all too well the issues facing this road, especially with increasing residential growth in the corridor and more heavy vehicles from businesses like SCT at Bromelton.”
“We need a safe and efficient road network for people to drive to work and school on, and to encourage businesses to invest at Bromelton and in the Beaudesert district to create local jobs. That’s my priority.”
“The Labor Government has left this road in the slow lane. Labor has spent nothing and done nothing to plan upgrades on this stretch of highway. There are no new upgrades ready to go on the Mount Lindesay Highway, except those funded by the LNP Federal Government up until when it left office in 2022.”
“Labor’s own plan says in black and white that they won’t even start planning upgrades down to Beaudesert until 2027 or later.”
“That’s simply not good enough. This is part of the National Highway, but to get federal funding, you need to plan them.”
“Labor has constantly neglected this highway for 30 of last 35 years that it has been in power, and most recent works have only occurred because of LNP Federal Government funding.”
“It’s time for a change, and for a government that has the right plan for the Mount Lindesay Highway.”
