Meet Jon

Jon Krause is the Member for Scenic Rim, and has served his community in the Queensland Parliament since 2012.

A key focus of Jon's work has been enhancing essential community services. Notable achievements include the restoration of maternity and surgery services at Beaudesert Hospital by the LNP Government in 2014, alongside the recruitment of eight new doctors starting in early 2024. Jon has advocated for investment in major roads, including the Mount Lindesay Highway, Cunningham Highway and Ipswich Boonah Road. After a 35-year wait, Jon's advocacy (alongside the community) saw the government commit $5.2 million in the 2024 budget to seal a stretch of gravel road locals have been trying to fix since 1989. Jon does not give up.

In his commitment to public safety, Jon successfully implemented 24-hour policing in Beaudesert in 2012 by supporting the government's initiative to deploy 1100 additional police officers over four years. Furthermore, he was pivotal in increasing police resources in Canungra, Jimboomba, and Tamborine Mountain. Under his leadership, a much-needed new police station was built in Beaudesert in 2021, reinforcing the community's safety and well-being. A new courthouse to replace the 1970s old Beaudesert courthouse is being constructed following Jon's continuing advocacy on behalf of the community.

Born and raised on a dairy farm in Marburg, Jon has firsthand experience of rural life and the challenges farming families and communities face in southeast Queensland. While population growth brings the city closer to the country, Jon is determined that the farming areas he represents must be protected as they form essential parts of the Queensland economy and contribute a great deal to feeding the nation (and the world).

Through his dedication, advocacy, and hands-on approach, Jon Krause continues to work tirelessly for the betterment of the Scenic Rim Electorate to make it a safe, prosperous, and vibrant environment to live, work and raise a family.
