Meet Leon

Hi, I'm Leon Rebello, your LNP candidate for McPherson.

The southern Gold Coast is my home and I’m proud and protective of our lifestyle.

I’m putting myself forward to be your federal representative, because I want better for our local community.

My involvement with schools, community organisations, small businesses and social groups across McPherson positions me as the community voice at the next election. I have a record of service across our community and have proven to be someone who is available and who listens.

With experience from both the private and public sector, I offer both a Gold Coast and an international perspective. I hold a combined Law/International Relations degree and have studied in Australia, France and the Netherlands. 

I previously worked as ministerial staff to former Foreign Minister, the Hon Julie Bishop, and am currently a solicitor at a prominent Australian law firm, specialising in foreign investment law. I have the exposure and the experience to deal with the macro issues that will face a federal parliamentarian.

As the youngest member of the federal team, I’ll also serve as an advocate for young people.

Like many families on the Gold Coast, I understand the struggles of managing household budgets while feeling the pinch of constant price increases. I’m committed to being part of a government that will address long term cost of living and housing pressures. I’ll support the creation of a tax system that is fair because you deserve to keep more of what you earn.

Our community needs to be liveable, and I share your frustrations about transport infrastructure here in McPherson. In order to deal with the rapid population growth we are experiencing, I’ll engage with you to put forward lasting transport and public transport solutions.

I’ll work to address the real issues that locals are facing, especially cost of living and crime, and return a common sense approach to government.

I don’t take the beauty of the southern Gold Coast for granted and I’ll continue to collaborate with grassroots community organisations to protect our natural environment and koala population for the benefit of current and future generations.

We live in the best part of the world, but it can be better. In me you’ll have a genuine community servant that’s accessible, that listens, and that fights for local interests.
