A Dutton-led LNP Government will provide the Aspley Memorial Bowls Club with $600,000 to build a new cover for their synthetic green.
“Our community deserves the opportunity to access safe, inclusive sport and recreational facilities,” Mr Howarth said.
“I am proud to announce a $600,000 commitment from an elected LNP Government to provide a cover over the synthetic green at the Aspley Bowls Club. This will ensure that people of all ages can have access to a sport which develops the skills of community members.
“I have been a proud supporter of the Aspley Memorial Bowls Club. Under the previous LNP Government I was able to contribute significantly to the Club by upgrading their bowling green and installing shade covers.
“This new commitment will ensure the bowling green is safer and more comfortable to use in rain, hail or shine and into the evening, while also helping to attract new members to the club.”
Gai Cole, of the Aspley Memorial Bowls Club, said “We take our duty of care responsibilities very seriously, which is why the Club makes every effort to provide a safe environment for our members.
“At present, each time the Club has a social day half the players are out in the sun. Another cover will provide the opportunity for most members to play in a safer environment out of the sun and direct heat. Due to most of our members being elderly this is very important.
“Not only will this project benefit the thousands of people who visit the bowls club each year, it will also contribute to keeping Aspley, Carseldine and surrounding areas modern, attractive and well-serviced.”
