THE RIGHT PLAN FOR QUEENSLAND’S FUTURE
The LNP has committed to funding the delivery of accelerated planning of East West Connectors and M1 Interchange Upgrades in the northern Gold Coast electorates of Coomera and Theodore if elected on the 26th of October.
Northern Gold Coast MPs Michael Crandon and Mark Boothman and a Crisafulli LNP Government will deliver $5 million towards the planning and development of the business case needed to provide relief from the massive traffic congestion experienced every day as motorists access, and travel over the M1.
LNP candidate for Coomera Michael Crandon MP said the $5 million was part of the LNP’s focus on working harder for Queenslanders, by tackling congestion on the northern Gold Coast, while under Labor Queensland is heading in the wrong direction.
“The LNP will restore a government that works for you, with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Michael Crandon MP said.
“This congestion busting plan will address whole of community needs and positively impact local families that spend up to two hours stuck in heavy traffic, rather than at home with their families.
“This announcement is great news for motorists who want to see solutions for the traffic choke points around the M1.
“Queenslanders are currently paying far more and getting far less under Labor.
“Labor’s failures have overseen $20 billion-plus in project cost blowouts that could have instead delivered solutions for these traffic bottlenecks.
“Queenslanders should have a government that delivers the programs and services needed for the State’s future, supporting our communities,” said Mr Crandon.
LNP candidate for Theodore Mark Boothman said, “Residents are frustrated about the lack of action when it comes to our congested M1 interchanges.
“We are seeing massive population growth with locals forced to use roads already at their limit.
“For example, Tamborine Oxenford Road is continuing to see large increase in traffic volumes, with current counts of more than 21,000 vehicles per day. Add this to increasing traffic counts on Reserve Road and residents are forced to spend more time stuck in traffic and less time at home.
“It is imperative that we find alternative routes to allow traffic to traverse the M1 motorway, taking vehicles away from our already overburdened M1 interchanges,” said Mr Boothman.
Both Mr Crandon and Mr Boothman said Queenslanders could vote for the Right Plan to end congestion by voting LNP at this election.
“This state needs a fresh start, and only the LNP has the right plan for Queensland.”
