The LNP has committed to deliver much-needed new boating infrastructure to improve access to the Noosa River if elected this month.
The new boat infrastructure will offer additional capacity for river users and reduce pressure on local carparking.
LNP candidate for Noosa Clare Stewart said the $2.5M project would ensure every taxpayer dollar is invested to deliver the maximum benefit.
“The LNP will restore respect for your money, delivering projects on time and on budget, with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Ms Stewart said.
“Current facilities are at, or over capacity and this has led to flow-on impacts in terms of parking and other congestion issues around existing boat ramps.
“Queenslanders are currently paying far more and getting far less under Labor”
Ms Stewart said the investment would be the first made by a state government to expand boating infrastructure in Noosa in more than 30 years.
"Time's up for Labor’s expensive failures which have overseen $20 billion-plus in project cost blowouts, that could have instead delivered local infrastructure like this boat infrastructure for Noosa,” Ms Stewart said.
Andrew McCarthy of the Noosa Boating and Fishing Alliance welcomed the announcement and said it would increase the capacity of boat users to safely access the Noosa River for fishing and recreation.
“Noosa has been crying out for this investment from a state level for decades,” Mr McCarthy said.
Clare Stewart said Queenslanders could vote for the investment in boating infrastructure, and a government focused on driving down cost pressures, by voting LNP at this election.
“Queenslanders must show Labor the door in 2024, to restore respect for their money,” Ms Stewart said.
“Only the LNP stands ready to deliver outcomes for Noosa and a fresh start for Queensland.”
