The LNP has today announced it will deliver crucial upgrades to the Pine Rivers PCYC building, in a major boost for the local community.
The much-needed grassroots sport investment will bring their building up to code, replace old gym flooring and renovate their bathrooms, allowing the club to attract new members and families.
LNP Candidate for Pine Rivers Dean Clements said the $2.1 million Pine Rivers PCYC upgrade will support youth mentoring and deterrence from crime in Pine Rivers, as part of the LNP’s Making Our Community Safer Plan.
“The upgrade to freshen up and bring the ageing PCYC building up to code, new gym floors and updated bathrooms will support local kids and youth who need a hand to get and keep their lives on track,” Mr Clements said.
“It will give the club a boost in attracting a new generation of sport and community-minded locals as well as continuing to serve its current sporting teams.
“A PCYC is a great place to keep young people engaged and interested in being part of their local community.
“Only the LNP will restore safety where you live with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.
“Queenslanders have been held hostage by Labor’s Crime Crisis, but the LNP is committed to making our community safer with action including Adult Crime, Adult Time, gold standard early intervention and effective rehabilitation.
“Labor’s failures have seen crime skyrocket, with almost 300,000 Queenslanders victim to violations like car theft, break-ins and assaults, just last year.”
PCYC Queensland CEO Phil Schultz welcomed the LNP’s commitment.
“Funding such as this ensures that our club can continue to provide programs and services to young people and families that fulfil our mission of safer, healthier communities through youth development,” Mr Schultz said.
“Our programs keep young people connected, help them find positive role models, and increase their leadership skills and confidence.
“Upgrades can also enable us to offer these programs to an even greater number of young people, which benefits the whole community.
"It’s encouraging to see this recognition of the importance of a PCYC in the community and we are grateful,” said Mr Schultz.
Dean Clements said Queenslanders could vote for facility upgrades for Pine Rivers PCYC and a government which worked for them, by voting LNP at this election.
“Our state needs a fresh start, only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
