The LNP will deliver a major boost to the Cornubia Park Sport Precinct with upgrades to facilities and parking for the popular precinct.
The $5.6 million boost will deliver:
- A major upgrade to Cornubia Park Netball Association
- A new park and ride
- A new Sports Hall for Shailer Park State High School
- Canteen and club room upgrades for Logan Thunder
LNP candidate for Springwood, Susanna Damianopoulos, said the Cornubia Sports Park was a well-used and well-loved precinct in need of a facelift, which the LNP would deliver.
“The LNP will invest in a new Sports Hall for Shailer Park SHS, as well as major upgrades for Cornubia Park Netball and Logan Thunder, as well as more parking to service the sports park,” Ms Damianopoulos said.
“Our commitment will deliver two internal multipurpose courts for basketball and netball, an external netball or basketball court, and two external tennis courts, the project will serve as a hub for various sports activities.
“These facilities will be accessible not only to students at Shailer Park State High School, but to the local community, and local sporting clubs.
“A new Park and Ride delivered in partnership with Logan City Council, will ease the traffic and parking burden on the Centre by providing a designated drop-off zone.
“Cornubia Park Netball Association will benefit from a major upgrade of the netball courts and upgrades to the clubhouse to help revitalize the local netball association.
“The LNP’s commitment will deliver an upgrade for the Logan Thunder canteen and club room to provide better facilities for athletes and visitors, and support sports events.”
Mitchell Young, General Manager of Logan Basketball Incorporated welcomed the announcement.
“The Cornubia Park Sports Centre has recorded all time high activity use over the past 12 months and the commitment will support further development of the venue towards lasting positive impact for our community into the future," said Mr Young.
Susanna Damianopoulos said Queenslanders could vote for major upgrades at ther Cornubia Sport Precinct and a government which worked for them, by voting LNP at this election.
“Our state needs a fresh start and the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s future.”
