Let’s make Barron River and Queensland safer. Youth crime has exploded across Queensland due to fewer police, weaker laws and no consequences for actions.
Everyone knows of someone who has been hurt by Labor’s youth crime crisis. Whether they have been assaulted, their property damaged, or had possessions stolen, crime is simply out of control.
In Queensland we have seen:
- Assaults up by 220% since 20151
- Break Ins up by 54% since 20151
- Car theft up by 116% from 20151
Youth crime is hurting our community financially, too.
The more crime in your postcode, the more insurance premiums go up. And people can’t go to work if their vehicle has been damaged or stolen.
Now more than ever we need to stand together as a community and tell the Palaszczuk-Miles Labor Government to get serious about tackling youth crime.
The LNP Making Queensland Safer Laws will:
- Restore consequences for actions with Adult Time for Adult Crime.
- Ensure Judges can impose sentences that reflect community expectations.
- Reform early intervention programs to divert young lives from crime.
- Enforce the Staying on Track rehabilitation program to bridge the gap and drive down youth reoffending rates.
- Increase the number of police on the beat.
That’s why we have launched our Crime petition.
Please sign this petition, and share it with your friends, family and colleagues.
Together, we can send Labor a strong message to get tough on crime.
