Meet Annette

Hi, I'm Annette Swaine, your LNP candidate for Kennedy.

Following a career in law enforcement with the Queensland Police Service of almost two decades and running a small business in the tourism sector, Annette Swaine is taking on a new challenge as the Liberal National Party candidate for Kennedy.

Retiring in 2020 with the rank of Seargent, Annette spent 19 years serving in the QPS across Queensland, stationed variously in Brisbane, Mount Isa, Innisfail and Cardwell, including working in the specialist area of child protection and investigation.  

Annette worked extensively with vulnerable youth and the community stakeholders connected with this important area of policing, which has in part motivated Annette to nominate for the LNP in the seat of Kennedy, which is impacted by youth crime.

More recently, Annette owned and operated several small tourism businesses in the Cassowary Coast Region, including Great Barrier Reef Fishing and Island Tours, which operated around the Family Group of Islands and Hinchinbrook Island.

Local fishers would also know Annette as the previous owner and operator of the popular Port-of-Call bait, tackle, fuel, ice and seafood retailing business in Cardwell, where she was also Cardwell Chamber of Commerce President in 2019-20.  

Annette served on the board of Tropical Coast Tourism in 2021, promoting tourism industry interests in the Cassowary Coast and Hinchinbrook regions. As a former local tourism operator, Annette sees the potential for growth in the Kennedy electorate.
