Meet Luke
A Message From Luke
Hi, I'm Luke Howarth, your Federal Member for Petrie.
Luke grew up on the northside of Brisbane, often enjoying crabbing and fishing with his Dad in Bramble Bay. He started Judo at the Bracken Ridge Scout Hall at 7 years of age and represented Queensland and progressed to a black belt. He met his wife Louise, and they had three sons.
Luke went on to run a successful family business, employing over 20 staff members, and found himself frustrated by the state of the economy under the Rudd Labor Government. He wanted to make a real difference for families and businesses in the community he calls home and decided to nominate as a candidate for Petrie in the 2013 Federal Election.
Luke was subsequently elected in 2013 to represent Petrie in the Australian Parliament, and was re-elected in 2016, 2019 and 2022. Luke has held Ministerial roles over the years including Assistant Minister for Community Housing, Homelessness and Community Services, Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services, Shadow Minister for Defence Industry and Shadow Minister for Defence Personnel and is currently the Shadow Assistant Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Financial Services.
