An elected Dutton LNP Government has committed to delivering $2.74 million to The Gap Football Club in Brisbane to convert one of its fields into a new synthetic pitch, future-proofing the much-loved sports facility.
LNP candidate for Ryan, Maggie Forrest, said the major upgrade would ensure the local community could continue to enjoy their sporting facilities.
“The Gap Football Club is home to over one thousand players, aged from the under 6s right through to the senior teams,” Ms Forrest said.
“Their three turf fields are constantly in use, hosting many games and training sessions for the teams, which takes a toll.”
“I’ve heard firsthand that the club is at risk of having to close fields due to wear and tear and the safety risk this poses, which is why I’ve been fighting for funding to convert one of the fields to a synthetic surface.
“A new synthetic pitch would be game-changing for The Gap Football Club by providing a more durable and safer option for players to enjoy for years to come.”
The Hon Michael Sukkar MP, who is visiting the region to support Maggie Forrest, said “Projects just like this will ensure that players at The Gap Football Club have a safe, high-quality place to play the sport they love”.
Senator Paul Scarr, said, “This funding will benefit not just the Club’s members, but also our local schools who seek to utilise The Gap Football Club’s facilities.”
“This huge commitment is part of the LNP’s plan to strengthen our communities and get Australia back on track,” Senator Scarr said.
