THE HON. KEVIN HOGAN MP
FEDERAL MEMBER FOR PAGE
DEPUTY LEADER OF THE NATIONALS
SHADOW MINISTER FOR TRADE, INVESTMENT AND TOURISM
This week marks ten years since the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement was signed by the former Coalition Government. It is a landmark deal that eliminated tariffs and opened the door to our biggest trading partner.
Shadow Minister for Trade, Investment and Tourism Kevin Hogan has called on Prime Minister Albanese to use his meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang to build on this deal.
“Blueberries were formally placed on the Government's priority list for market access years ago, with agreement from the Chinese Government as part of negotiations to progress priority fruits from each country,” Mr Hogan said.
“Despite this, they remain locked out of the Chinese market. This industry is worth hundreds of millions to regional Australia, and greater access to the Chinese market would be a game-changer for growers.”
“This is the Prime Minister’s chance to secure a clear outcome.”
