HENRY SWINDON
Liberal National Party Candidate for Moreton
A Dutton LNP Government will deliver $250,000 for new female facilities at the Brisbane Knights Football Club.
LNP candidate for Moreton, Henry Swindon, said that the “The state of the changerooms is dire after two major flooding events in recent years and currently, the women have to share bathroom and dressing facilities with male players.
“This significant investment from a Dutton LNP Government will assist in the delivery of new female changing rooms, bathrooms, and upgraded lighting, making the club an even safer and more inclusive environment,” Mr Swindon said.
LNP Senator for Queensland, Paul Scarr, said, “I have a long relationship with the Brisbane Knights, the Gold Coast Croatian Sport Centre, Gold Coast Knights and the wider community.
For a club like this, which has gone through so much to receive the money, it will be a significant boost for the club, the female players and everyone who comes to play at the Brisbane Croatian Community Centre – whether for or against the Knights.
“I am honoured to have fought with Henry for this funding. This is a club with deep cultural roots in this community and I know how much it will help them.”
Karlo Leko, President of Brisbane Knights FC said, “We are committed to the growth of the women’s game at our club. We have seen huge increases in the number of players in recent years and the idea that they have to share facilities with the men is something we desperately want to address because it’s frankly embarrassing.
“We are a club that is deeply rooted in culture, but also in the sharing of cultures. We have over 50 different cultural backgrounds of players playing at our club. We respect everyone and this investment will help us to show the utmost respect to our fantastic women who represent our club with such distinction.”
