A Dutton-led LNP Government will provide a game-changing $571,413 in federal funding for the Buderim Wanderers Football Club, to build an all-weather synthetic pitch, which the Club desperately needs.
From the sidelines of the soggy and cyclone-damaged field, the Federal Member for Fairfax, Ted O’Brien, today announced that a LNP Government would deliver a major upgrade for the Buderim Wanderers Football Club.
“The Buderim Wanderers Football Club hosts top-notch athletes and a Dutton-led LNP Government will deliver a top-notch pitch to match,” Mr O’Brien said.
“As we have learnt from Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the natural grass pitches just won’t cut it any longer as the club continues to outgrow its existing facilities – particularly with strong and growing female participation at the Club.
“After the Matildas’ 2023 Women’s World Cup effort, soccer is now the fastest growing sport in this nation and so I’m thrilled that a modern pitch will help the Club provide even more opportunities for competition amongst women and girls.”
“This club has an exciting future. With plans for it to serve as a training site during the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup, in Brisbane, the new pitch will help put the Coast football scene on the map.”
Buderim Wanderers Football Club President, Glenn Duncan, said “the all-weather pitch will be a game-changer, not just for the Club, but for the entire region.”
“It will ensure that football games can continue year-round, benefitting players, families and the broader community in ways that go well beyond the game itself,” Mr Duncan said.
“This investment will provide our members and the wider community a high-quality facility that promotes inclusivity, resilience, and growth in football, ensuring year-round access to the game while strengthening social and physical well-being for all ages.
“Mr O’Brien’s commitment to the club and the wider community is truly appreciated and we are incredibly grateful for his continued support.”
