The LNP will deliver a Level 5 Hospital for Bundaberg to help heal Labor’s Health Crisis.
The commitment was made as part of the LNP’s major health policy announcement, which also confirmed expansion of health services for regional Queensland and a target to reduce ambulance ramping below 30% in the first term of government.
Labor has repeatedly tried to walk away from their promise to the community made four years ago, and only in the shadow of an election, has desperately tried to backtrack.
Deputy LNP Leader, Jarrod Bleijie said the Bundaberg Hospital would be delivered by the LNP.
“Only the LNP will deliver this hospital so residents of Bundaberg have access to world class health services,” Mr Bleijie said.
“Labor MP Tom Smith has been playing ducks and drakes, deleting a Facebook post he made prior to the last election promising the hospital about the status of the Hospital.
“The community has been ignored by Labor, with multiple promises over many years.
“But more than four years on, not even a slab has not even been poured on the site, they can’t be trusted ,” said Mr Bleijie.
The LNP will work with local clinicians to ensure this facility is one that the people of Bundaberg deserve.
It will be equipped with the latest technology and modern resources.
It will have:
- 121 new overnight beds
- Larger Emergency Department
- New Operating Rooms
- Teaching, training and research spaces
- More diagnostic services
LNP candidate for Bundaberg, Bree Watson said $1.2 billion project was the facility her city needed so they had easier access to health services.
“The LNP will restore health services when you need them with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Ms Watson said.
“This new hospital will deliver world class treatment options for our community.
“Our plan will heal Labor’s Health Crisis by diagnosing the issues from within our health system, treating the causes and delivering long-term solutions to care.
"Time is up for Labor’s Health Crisis, which has left nearly one in two Queenslanders ramped in ambulances, more than 60,000 Queenslanders waiting for elective surgery and nearly 300,000 on the waitlist to see a specialist.
“This state needs a fresh start and only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
