Sporting families in one of Queensland's fastest growing communities are set to benefit from a brand-new sports hub, with the LNP pledging $450,000 to build a new clubhouse at the Caloundra South Sports Complex, if a Federal LNP Government is elected.
Federal Member for Fisher, Andrew Wallace MP, said the facility will enable local clubs, particularly the area's burgeoning AFL teams, to find a permanent home in the heart of the Baringa and wider Aura community.
“As Caloundra West and Caloundra South rapidly grow, so does demand on local community sporting infrastructure. Yet, federal investment in Sunshine Coast community facilities is at an all-time low under Anthony Albanese,” Mr Wallace said.
“The LNP is making this commitment because we understand just how important it is to back our local sports clubs, which do an incredible job getting kids active, connecting families, and supporting the local community.”
Sunshine Coast Councillor for Division One, Cr Jenny Broderick, welcomed the commitment as a big win for the southern end of the Sunshine Coast.
“This funding would make a world of difference to the clubs, families, and groups who call the Aura community home - not least of which are the growing number of AFL players and their loved ones and supporters,” Cr Broderick said.
“This is a huge show of support for the Baringa community and I’m so pleased that Andrew Wallace has been prepared to partner with Council and to build a new clubhouse in Baringa.”
