- The Crisafulli Government has secured a new Certified Agreement with Queensland Health staff and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce.
- More than 38,000 employees will receive an eight per cent increase to wages and allowances over three years, after a majority of those balloted voted in favour of the deal.
- The new agreements also include increases to penalties and allowances.
More than 87 per cent of Queensland Health’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce and Administrative, Operational and Professional and Technical employees have voted in a ballot to accept the Crisafulli Government’s offer for new Certified Agreements.
The agreements will see an eight per cent wage increase in line with the Public Sector Wages Policy (3%, 2.5%, 2.5%), with a CPI uplift adjustment where activated.
The agreement for administrative, operational, professional and technical employees includes additional incentives, including increases to night shift allowance, enhanced part time working arrangements for shift workers, and improvements to leave loading arrangements.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce will also receive improvements to conditions and allowances, including enhancements to attract, reward and retain workers in remote areas where they deliver critical services.
These agreements build on the recently certified enterprise bargaining agreements for paramedics, nurses and midwives, and medical officers.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls said the agreements demonstrate the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to growing the health workforce.
“The Crisafulli Government’s agreement with Queensland Health staff and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce builds on deals with nurses and midwives, medical officers and paramedics," Minister Nicholls said.
“In total, over 116,000 employees covered by Queensland Health agreements are on track to receive increases to their pay and conditions.
“This result further demonstrations the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to work in partnership with the unions to deliver improved wages and conditions for our valued public sector workforce.
“To see such a positive endorsement of these workplace agreements is an exciting milestone that recognises all those who show up every day to keep our health system running."
