The LNP has committed to building a Drop and Go facility for Craigslea State School to creating a safe and effective drop off and pick up zone and reducing local traffic congestion, if elected next month.
LNP candidate for Aspley, Amanda Cooper, said the $600,000 project would help deliver a safe start to the school day, and help remove a traffic bottleneck that builds in peak periods.
“The Craigslea State School P&C have advocated for this project to help keep their students and community safe, but their calls have been ignored by the Miles Labor Government and the local Labor MP. The LNP will restore a government that works for the Aspley community, with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Cooper said.
“This facility will not only benefit the families of Craigslea State School, but also the many local residents whose morning and afternoon trips are impacted due to inadequate planning.”
“Aspley needs a fresh start, and this safer and more efficient “drop and go” zone is part of restoring a government that educates young Queenslanders, boosts our skills training facilities and puts more teachers in our schools.
P and C President Joel Miller welcomed the announcement and said it has long been an issue for Craigslea State School.
“Getting to students to school safely should be a priority for government. I welcome Amanda’s commitment to the project,” Miller said.
Amanda Cooper said Queenslanders have the choice to vote for creating safer schools and reducing local traffic congestion by voting for a government with these priorities at this election.
“Queenslanders must show Labor the door in 2024, to deliver the programs, training and services we need for the future,” Cooper said.
“Only the LNP stands ready to deliver a fresh start for Queensland.”
