MEDIA RELEASE
One of the biggest football clubs in the southern suburbs of Brisbane will be able to grow thanks to a $180,000 commitment from an elected Dutton led LNP government to provide new female facilities at the St George-Willawong Football Club.
LNP candidate for Moreton, Henry Swindon, said the investment would provide a more inclusive environment for the club’s growing women's program.
“Football is the heart and soul of our community, which is why it’s so important that we ensure that all players feel safe and comfortable, so that our local clubs can continue to thrive,” Mr Swindon said.
“This investment from a Dutton LNP Government will assist in the delivery of new female changing rooms and bathrooms, making the club more inclusive.”
Liberal National Party Senator for Queensland, Paul Scarr, said, “I have a long relationship with the Serbian community across Queensland and I know what the St George-Willawong Football Club means to this community.
“This is a club that has won nine promotions in just over a decade, and being in the National Premier League for the first time is a matter of pride for many people. I am proud to support this club with this funding commitment.”
Aleksandar Mladenovic, President of St George-Willawong FC, said, “We are committed to the growth of the women’s game and want our club to be leaders in both men’s and women’s football. We want to have a womens program that makes it to the top tier of football in Queensland like our mens team.”
This commitment is part of the LNP’s plan to strengthen our local communities and get Australia back on track. To read more about our plan, visit lnp.au/ontrack.
