The LNP will help deliver the TURBINE Project, a collaborative food and beverage manufacturing, education, and innovation centre, to be built in Caloundra, if elected this month.
The LNP’s commitment will support Australia’s first purpose built, end-to-end food and beverage manufacturing and education precinct creating jobs, and a local manufacturing hub.
LNP Candidate for Caloundra Kendall Morton said the $6.8 million commitment was part of the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.
“The Sunshine Coast has one of the most exciting food and agribusiness networks in Queensland and the LNP is proud to support exciting project which will support local businesses and local jobs,” Ms Morton said.
“The LNP’s commitment will fund the creation of a food and beverage manufacturing hub, driving down costs for startups with shared equipment and facilities, and giving local businesses the chance to scale.
"This precinct will include partnerships with research, education and training, and government organisations to support individuals and businesses in our growing food and agribusiness sector.
“This project will unlock growth, accelerate innovation and create a national blueprint for collaborative food and beverage manufacturing right here in Caloundra.”
Andrew Eves-Brown, CEO of the TURBINE Project, welcomed the announcement and said it would be a huge benefit to the community.
“The impact of this project will be significant with over 400 jobs being created during the construction phase and once operational, it is estimated that more than 150 high-value manufacturing and business roles will be created.”
“The project will have a significant economic impact on the region producing over $2 billion impact over the first 10 years of operation.”
Ms Morton said Queenslanders could vote for Caloundra TURBINE project, and a Fresh Start for Queensland, by voting LNP on October 26.
“Only by voting 1 LNP will Queenslanders get a Fresh Start and projects like our Caloundra TURBINE project,” Ms Morton said.
“Labor and Jason Hunt are desperate to hold onto power, but unless we change the government, we’ll continue to get more of the same under Labor.
“This is the opportunity for a Fresh Start with the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
