A Dutton LNP Government would provide $1 million in funding to the Kenmore Bears to further cater for the growth in women’s participation at the club.
The Kenmore Bears Junior AFL Club has been serving the Kenmore district since 1967. With over 408 registered junior players and 100 players over the age of 35, now is the time to assist the club to bring their facilities into this decade, with new changerooms, showers, and toilets.
Federal Liberal National Party candidate for Ryan, Maggie Forrest, said, “Changerooms are crucial at sporting clubs as they directly impact players’ comfort, hygiene, and overall experience. Fit-for-purpose changerooms further contribute to a positive and inclusive environment”.
President of Kenmore Bears, Rod Lake, said, “The Kenmore Bears is the home of female football in the Western Suburbs. We are one of the fastest growing junior AFL Clubs in Brisbane, with up to 100 local children a year participating in our successful Auskick programme which introduces them to the skills of Australian Football prior to becoming part of an under-age team.”
“Our 1970s changeroom is in desperate need of an upgrade. Receiving an investment from a Dutton LNP Government would be an absolute life changer for our players and we thank Maggie Forrest for fighting for our club.”
Shadow Minister for Youth, Angie Bell MP, who was alongside Maggie Forrest for the funding announcement, said, “It’s clear that investing in women’s sport should be a priority and that is why an elected LNP government will ensure that the Kenmore Bears have their facilities upgraded to the tune of $1 million, giving the club and its members facilities that will support their growing community”.
