LNP candidate for Ryan, Maggie Forrest, has today announced that an elected Dutton Liberal National Government will invest in the health and wellbeing of kids and families in Ryan, with a $125,000 commitment to upgrade the West Juniors AFL Club.
“According to the Clearing House of Sport, an estimated 514,000, or nearly half of all children under 14 years old in Queensland participate in organised, out-of-school sport at least once a week”, Ms Forrest, said.
“So, the LNP is getting behind the fast-growing West Juniors AFL Club by committing to this important project, which will include upgraded seating, landscaping and CCTV facilities.
“With more and more families coming to support their young players, the club is struggling to accommodate spectators with their current seating set-up. This funding will provide new, expanded seating along with important security upgrades to cater to its expanding membership.
“The Albanese Labor Government and the current Greens Member for Ryan have neglected our sporting clubs. Only a Liberal National Government will deliver the projects that our community needs,” Ms Forrest said.
President of West Juniors, David Sartor, said “This project will benefit not only the Wests Juniors AFL Club, but all the other local groups that use our clubhouse, facilities and fields including Brisbane Boys College and the University of Queensland Cricket Club.”
This commitment is part of the LNP’s plan to strengthen our local communities and to get Australia back on track. To read more about our plan, visit lnp.au/ontrack.
