The LNP will build the much-needed Tewantin Bypass on Beckmans Road to ease congestion and improve safety for Noosa families, if elected on October 26.
For more than 20 years, Sunshine Coast residents have called for the completion of this crucial infrastructure project, but it has been delayed time and again by Labor’s broken promises.
Work on the bypass will commence in the first term of an LNP government, with the LNP committing $30 million to commence the project to duplicate Beckmans Road and connect Cooroy Noosa Road to Eumundi Noosa Road.
The LNP’s plan includes fast-tracking the remaining stages of the Beckmans Road upgrade project, working closely with Noosa Council and the Department of Transport and Main Roads to deliver it.
LNP Leader David Crisafulli said delivering the Tewantin Bypass was part of the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.
“An LNP government will drive the Tewantin Bypass to become reality, improving traffic flow and reducing travel times for families and tourists,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“We are committed to building the infrastructure needed for the future of our regions and getting our busy roads flowing again, with our Safer Roads, Better Transport program.
“The Tewantin Bypass has been left idling under Labor, which has failed the people of Noosa by delaying funding for vital road infrastructure.
“This project is an important priority for the Noosa community, and the LNP is ready to hit the gas to get it moving.”
LNP candidate for Noosa Clare Stewart said the Tewantin Bypass will deliver much-needed relief for Noosa families.
“The LNP’s commitment will ensure this project is delivered to support Noosa’s future growth and prosperity,” Ms Stewart said.
“Noosa families have waited long enough. We cannot afford further delays on such an important congestion-busting and safety upgrade.
Clare Stewart said Queenslanders could vote for the Tewantin Bypass, and a Fresh Start for Queensland, by voting LNP on October 26.
“Only by voting 1 LNP will Queenslanders get a Fresh Start and projects like the Tewantin Bypass,” Ms Stewart said.
“Labor and the Independent MP for Noosa are desperate to hold onto power, but unless we change the government, we’ll continue to get more of the same under Labor.
“This is the opportunity for a Fresh Start with the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
