LNP candidate for Leichhardt, Jeremy Neal, has today announced a $350,000 commitment to upgrade the Ivanhoes Rugby League Football Club (RLFC) if an LNP Government is elected, to deliver safer, more energy-efficient facilities for players and the local community.
This funding will go towards:
- Upgrading field lighting to meet NRL competition standards while reducing energy consumption by 30 per cent.
- Replacing the ageing, unstable goal posts with new NRL-standard ones.
- Upgrading the electrical board to support the new lighting system.
Mr Neal said this investment would support grassroots rugby league in Cairns by improving player safety and creating a more sustainable sporting facility for the long-term.
“Grassroots sports clubs like Ivanhoes RLFC are vital to the fabric of the Far North Queensland community, providing opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to participate in one of Australia’s most beloved sports,” Mr Neal said.
“Ivanhoes RLFC is a cornerstone of rugby league in Cairns, providing a vital pathway for young players to develop their skills. This investment will deliver safer and more energy-efficient facilities, ensuring the club can continue to thrive.
“Under an LNP Government, investment in community sports infrastructure will be a priority to ensure local clubs can continue to grow and succeed.
“This is about backing our local sporting clubs, providing better infrastructure for players and the community, and ensuring they can host quality competitions for years to come.”
