MEDIA RELEASE
LNP candidate for Ryan, Maggie Forrest, together with LNP candidate for Brisbane, Trevor Evans, today announced a Dutton Liberal National Government will deliver $2.725 million for major upgrades to the Valley District Cricket Club.
“Valley District Cricket Club has been growing year-on-year meaning available green space to play and train on is becoming increasingly limited, especially for the junior teams,” Ms Forrest said.
“I am proud to announce that a Dutton Liberal National Government will provide $2.725 million in funding for vital upgrades to the club, which would include building an indoor net facility to accommodate their more than 1,300 members.
“This proposed indoor facility would not only give the players more space to train, but it will allow for greater participation by weatherproofing the facility.
“The LNP is backing sporting clubs like the Valley District Cricket Club by ensuring they have the facilities they need to continue to thrive and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles in our communities.”
LNP candidate for Brisbane, Trevor Evans, said “Brisbane locals love their cricket, and neighbourhood cricket clubs like Valleys are the beating heart of community sport here in Brisbane.
"It’s great to see that with this commitment, a Dutton Liberal National Government will be helping yet another local community club who are doing it tough in Labor's cost of living crisis."
This project will be jointly funded by the Valley District Cricket Club, Queensland Cricket and the Brisbane City Council.
This commitment is part of the Liberals and Nationals’ plan to strengthen our local communities and to get Australia back on track. To read more about our plan, visit https://lnp.au/ontrack.
