An elected Dutton-led Liberal National Government will shine a light on the Kawana AFL club by investing in lighting upgrades that will boost the Club’s entire operation.
The LNP has committed $150,000 to deliver upgrades to the Club’s Meridan Spots Complex to enable the organisation to expand training, competition, and social sport opportunities for women and men across the local catchment area and beyond.
“Sport has a powerful way of building community, and our local footy clubs are no exception,” Mr Wallace said.
“The Kawana AFL Club draws in families from across the areas of Kawana and northern Caloundra. This funding injection would allow them to expand their ability to train, compete, and connect both female and male players in a safe and sustainable way.
“Only a LNP Government will ensure local sporting groups in Fisher such as Kawana AFL receive the support they need.”
President of the Kawana Park Eagles, Brett Wightman, welcomed the announcement as a win for the local AFL club and for the broader Kawana and Meridan communities.
“It might not sound like a big thing, but getting field lighting onto our second field unlocks so many opportunities for our club – to get more women, more young people, and more players training, competing, and staying active,” Mr Wightman said.
“It’s a huge show of support for the Eagles and our volunteers, and I’m glad that the LNP and Andrew Wallace are prepared to get behind us.”
