Men and Women’s football in Ipswich would continue to grow under a Dutton LNP Government with Carl Mutzelburg announcing $2.2 million worth of upgrades for the Ipswich Knight’s growing women’s league.
Federal LNP candidate for Blair, Carl Mutzelburg said the funding would provide the Ipswich Knights with new female facilities, improved lighting, a field upgrades, and more seating and community spaces.
“The Ipswich Knights are a fantastic local soccer club and the LNP wants to back the growing women’s league which has grown by 120% over the last 5 years,” Mr Mutzelburg said.
“Currently the women and girls’ teams do not have adequate facilities to cater for their rapid growth. Today’s announcement would see a Dutton LNP Government assist in the delivery of new female changing rooms, bathrooms, upgraded lighting, a new women’s football hub and more seating making the club an even safer and more inclusive environment.
“If we want to support female participation, we need to back our local sporting clubs with investment and that is what these upgrades will do.” Mr Mutzelburg said.
Troy Beahan, President of Ipswich Knights FC said “We’re incredibly grateful for the funding support to upgrade our facilities. This allows us to build female-specific changerooms and improve infrastructure to support our growing participation.
“It’s a major step forward in creating a safe, inclusive, and professional environment for all players and coaches. We’re excited to see the positive impact on our programs and community as we continue empowering women and girls in football.” Mr Beahan said
Belinda Scott, Director of Female Football Ipswich Knights, said, “This funding is a major milestone for the growth of women’s football at Ipswich Knights FC. As more women and girls join the club, these new facilities—including dedicated change rooms—will ensure a safe, welcoming, and professional environment.
“These upgrades support our current players and help create opportunities for the next generation, reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity and development in the game.” Ms Scott said.
This commitment is part of the LNP plan to strengthen our local communities and to get Australia back on track.
