TREVOR EVANS
LNP Candidate for Brisbane
Federal LNP candidates Maggie Forrest and Trevor Evans today announced that a Dutton-led Government would invest $4.08 million for a major redevelopment of the iconic GPS Rugby Club.
Ms Forrest, the LNP candidate for Ryan said “An LNP Government would invest $4.08 million in GPS Rugby Club to provide a new training field for up to 3,000 players, including an upgraded car park that would remove 200 cars from the street,”
“Once completed, the venue would provide the perfect environment for young people to stay fit, active and healthy in a state-of-the-art facility.
“This project will benefit not only GPS Rugby Club, but the thousands of students and their families who’ll be able to use the enhanced facilities. This will create a positive impact across not only the local community but the entire region, it is an investment in a piece of vital community infrastructure.”
Mr Evans, the LNP candidate for Brisbane added “In Brisbane we’re lucky to have so many fantastic local sporting clubs, and GPS Rugby Club is a local institution.”
“It’s great to see record-high demand for community sports, but at the same time, I know community clubs and volunteer-run organisations like GPS are struggling to keep up in Labor’s cost of living crisis.
“I’m very proud to have worked with Maggie to achieve this announcement and look forward to seeing the redevelopment take place under an LNP Government.”
The Brisbane City Council previously gifted GPS Rugby Club the old Ashgrove Bowls Club site that is currently located behind GPS. The Federal LNP funding commitment will provide the necessary funding to undertake the redevelopment.
