Tourism in Ipswich is set to receive a major boost under a Dutton Liberal National Government thanks to a $350,000 commitment to upgrade Nerima Gardens in Ipswich.
A Dutton LNP Government will provide the funding to upgrade the infrastructure, landscaping, and visitor amenities at Nerima Gardens at Queens Park.
LNP candidate for Blair, Carl Mutzelburg, said “Ipswich City’s Nerima Gardens are a very popular tourist attraction for the region generating intra and inter-state, and international visitation and accordingly economic, community and cultural benefit.
“The planned improvements to Nerima Gardens will elevate its status as a premier destination, attracting both domestic and international visitors. As a Japanese-style garden, it holds unique cultural significance, and upgrading its infrastructure, landscaping, and visitor amenities will increase its appeal to tourists seeking authentic and tranquil experiences.
“Increased visitation to Nerima Gardens will stimulate local businesses, particularly in hospitality, retail, and accommodation. As the party of small business, we want to help them grow.
“The revitalised gardens will also serve as a venue for cultural events, educational programs, and community activities,” Mr Mutzelburg said.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said Nerima Gardens is the tangible legacy of the prosperous sister-city relationship shared between the City of Ipswich and Nerima City, Japan for three decades now.
“Nerima Gardens holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the Ipswich community. It represents everything that is great about Ipswich – our welcoming nature, our inclusivity and how multicultural our city is. The gardens are an idyllic retreat and a popular tourist attraction for all.
“I welcome this commitment from the LNP which will see Nerima Gardens revitalised, ensuring it remains the beacon of our sister-city relationship with Nerima City for another 30 years,” Mayor Harding said.
This commitment is part of the LNP’ plan to strengthen our local communities and to get Australia back on track.
