LNP to open up Labor’s planned ‘road to nowhere’ in Upper Kedron

The LNP will fix another Labor failure and deliver a proper connection between the development at Upper Kedron and Mount Nebo Road.

An LNP Government would change the development conditions in Upper Kedron to allow a public-use, general traffic road connection between Upper Kedron and Mount Nebo Road if elected this month.

Currently slated for use by emergency vehicles only, the connector road will ease notorious traffic chokepoints on Samford Road and Settlement Road, and give faster access to businesses, schools and public transport hubs in Brisbane’s north west.

LNP Candidate for Ferny Grove Nelson Savanh said only the LNP will deliver usable housing for Queenslanders, after Labor’s failure to properly plan housing and infrastructure for the community’s future.

“Right now under Labor, this would be a road to nowhere, with local residents banned from using it.

“Upper Kedron residents have spent a decade under Labor being treated as a political football, with local Labor MPs Mark Furner and Jonty Bush buck-passing and playing politics, when all locals want is a safe second access to their suburb.

“The LNP will act to deliver proper infrastructure to support new housing, and reverse the absurd decision to restrict the developer’s road to emergency vehicles only,” Mr Savanh said.

“Farcically the sitting Labor MP, publicly branded the worst Minister in a terrible government, has now petitioned his colleagues to ask council to change the development conditions that his own government put in place.

“Meanwhile, he’s at odds with neighbouring Labor MP Jonty Bush who has said there would be no change under a Labor government, and petitioning the council won’t change anything.”

Mr Savanh said the connector road to Mt Nebo Rd from Upper Kedron would also provide an alternative route during emergencies including landslips and bushfires.

"Time's up for Labor’s expensive failures which have overseen $20 billion-plus in project cost blowouts and waste, like this monumental stuff up,” he said.

“Queenslanders are currently paying far more and getting far less under Labor’s systematic, long-term government failures.

“Queenslanders must show Labor the door in 2024, only the LNP stands ready to deliver a fresh start for Queensland.
