The LNP will deliver a much-needed upgrade to the Deception Bay SES Depot to help local volunteers and a neighbouring football club if elected this month.
An LNP Government would jointly fund the construction of a newly designed facility that will provide additional vehicle storage, enhanced training facilities, increased volunteer capacity, and a sizable, shared car park with the Dragons Football Club.
LNP Shadow Minister for Fire and Emergency Services, Dale Last said the $3.75 million contribution to the project would help make the local community safer and deliver significant improvements for our emergency response volunteers.
“The Deception Bay SES Depot is one of the busiest in the State and the current facility was constructed by members in 1985, so it has long past outgrown its original design and no longer meets the needs of the community,” Mr Last said.
“Their area of emergency response has seen the highest population growth in the
region over the past decade in North Lakes, Mango Hill and Burpengary East, and they now support more than 80,000 people in their patch.
“Labor’s failures have overseen $20 billion-plus in project cost blowouts that could have instead delivered grassroots infrastructure like this SES Depot upgrade.”
LNP Candidate for Bancroft Rob Barridge said the hard-working Deception Bay SES volunteers had been honoured with the Depot of the Year trophy for 2023, overcoming the limitations of the 40-year-old building.
“Only the LNP will deliver this nation-leading multi-use facility, that will provide broad
community benefit, including for the Dragons Football Club who will share the carpark with the depot,” Mr Barridge said.
“The upgrade will include training, operational, and logistical support for all SES operations and platforms, modern and purpose-built training facilities and training roof for high-risk situations, a 9-bay vehicle garage including three double depth drive through bays, and accommodation and support services."
Mr Barridge said Queenslanders could vote for an upgrade for the SES Depot and a government which worked for them, by voting LNP at this election.
“Our state needs a fresh start with a government focused on delivering the programs, services and communities for our state,” Mr Barridge said.
“Only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
