Local artists and cultural organisations will share in almost $300,000 of funding through the Creative Sparks and Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships programs.

Creative Sparks is jointly funded with Arts Queensland, and this year’s funding has increased by $25,000 to provide even more support for performances, exhibitions and neighbourhood projects.

Funding opportunities now open include:

  • Creative Sparks grants of up to $15,000.
  • Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships of up to $10,000.

These programs give our local talent opportunities while boosting Brisbane’s reputation as Australia’s lifestyle capital.

Former recipients have been supported to attend Broadway workshops in New York and training intensives at the Prague Shakespeare company, bringing their insights back to Brisbane to share with local industry.

Director and Producer, Egan Sun-Bin is a former successful recipient of the Creative Sparks Grants.

His theatre production, Scenes from a Yellow Peril, is a two-time QLD Matilda Award-winning production (Best Independent Production and Best Ensemble, 2024) and was performed at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in July this year.

Free information sessions will be held for applicants at:

  • Monday 29 September, 6pm - Chermside Library
  • Wednesday 1 October, 12 noon - Brisbane Square Library
  • Wednesday 1 October, 6pm - Garden City Library

Applications close 10 November for Creative Sparks grants and 17 November for Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships.

The Creative Sparks Grants Program is an initiative of Brisbane City Council delivered in partnership with the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
