Federal Member for Bowman, Henry Pike MP, has today announced that a Dutton-led Liberal National Government will deliver $550,000 to support the construction of new female changerooms at the Alex Hills Bombers Australian Football Club.
Mr Pike said that the changeroom upgrades would help support the continued success of the grassroots footy club.
“We want all Redlanders to have the opportunity to play the sport they love,” Mr Pike said.
“Sadly, sometimes seemingly simple things such as changeroom facilities can create a real barrier for aspiring athletes.
“This important investment from a Dutton-led LNP Government is integral to the club’s ability to cater to their existing enthusiastic teams, but also to the club’s continued growth, driven by an explosion in the popularity of women’s football.
“All players should have access to the same high-quality facilities, and I hope it will encourage more women and girls in the Redlands to give AFL a try.
“The Bombers are a fantastic part of our community, and it’s a privilege to be able to make this commitment today. I’m asking for the community’s support so we can make this goal of better facilities and equitable treatment for all teams a reality.
“I look forward to seeing both boys and girls from the Alex Hills Bombers become future Brisbane Lions stars for years to come.”
