The LNP will build a second interchange on the Sunshine Motorway at Mt Coolum if elected later this month.
An LNP Government would deliver two congestion-busting new south facing ramps off the Motorway at Mt Coolum, to connect with Council’s proposed extension of South Coolum Road.
LNP Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said the $40 million project would deliver long overdue infrastructure that would help ease congestion and improve safety on the local road network.
“The LNP will deliver a critical interchange upgrade to improve traffic safety and access,” Ms Simpson said.
“The project will help divert through traffic off David Low Way and back onto the Sunshine Motorway, as well as relieving pressure on dangerous local roads such as Toolga Street and Tanah Street West.
“Our local road network is at choke point, and only an LNP Government will deliver the upgrades we need to keep traffic flowing.”
LNP Member for Ninderry Dan Purdie said the second interchange project was the next step in the LNP’s plan to bust congestion in Coolum, following works to upgrade the roundabout at School Road with a signaled intersection.
“Locals have told me busting congestion and improving safety is their top priority,” Mr Purdie said.
“Labor have failed to invest in our road infrastructure for over ten years, despite our population booming.
“Queenslanders can vote for a second interchange on the Sunshine Motorway at Mt Coolum and a government which works for them, by voting LNP at this election,” Mr Purdie said.
“Only the LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s future.”
