The LNP has committed to delivering funding support for a new community and creative hub to help rejuvenate the central business district in Caloundra if elected this month.
An LNP Government will work with Sunshine Coast Council to deliver upgraded streetscapes and a unique community space in the heart of the CBD as part of the Create Caloundra project.
Residents and visitors to the Sunshine Coast centre would benefit from a revitalised city heart, driving even more business to local shops and services.
LNP candidate for Caloundra, Kendall Morton said the $4 million investment was part of the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.
“The LNP’s Create Caloundra plan will deliver important upgrades to the Caloundra CBD and a new creative hub,” Ms Morton said.
“Under the LNP’s plan, our streetscapes linking Bulcock Beach with key areas business and community hubs including The Events Centre, and the new Library will get a big boost.”
Caloundra Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mike Shadforth welcomed the announcement and said it would help restore business confidence in Caloundra.
“Businesses in our CBD have been crying out for investment to revitalise our main street and this investment will be warmly supported and welcomed by local businesses.”
Ms Morton said Queenslanders could vote for Create Caloundra, and a Fresh Start for Queensland, by voting LNP on October 26.
“Only by voting 1 LNP will Queenslanders get a Fresh Start and projects like our Caloundra CBD upgrades with the Create Caloundra plan,” Ms Morton said.
“Labor and Jason Hunt are desperate to hold onto power, but unless we change the government, we’ll continue to get more of the same under Labor.
“This is the opportunity for a Fresh Start with the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
