Brisbane paw-rents have had their say and the city’s top dog names for the past financial year have been unleashed.

Charlie has fetched the crown as Brisbane’s most popular pooch name with 1,211 registrations, closely trailed by Bella (1,034) and Coco (920) in third place.

Our city’s love for a certain cartoon cattle dog is also alive and barking, with 190 registered Chillis, 102 Bandits, 65 Blueys and 55 Bingos bounding around local parks.

Some pet owners have gone completely off the leash with their creativity, with Brisbane home to just one Harry Potter, one Ziggy Stardust the Third, and one Starvin Marvin McLovin.

When it comes to breeds, Labrador Retrievers (9,017) lead the pack, while Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (7,250) and Border Collies (6,752) are also paw-sitively adored.

Across our 106,026 registered dogs, Bracken Ridge has emerged as Brisbane’s most fur-friendly suburb with 2,124 pups registered, followed by The Gap (1,971) and Forest Lake (1,877).
