Thank you for signing our petition.
Let’s make Kurwongbah safer. Youth crime has exploded across Queensland due to fewer police, weaker laws and no consequences for actions.
Everyone knows of someone who has been hurt by Labor’s youth crime crisis.
Whether they have been assaulted, their property damaged, or had possessions stolen, crime is simply out of control.
In Queensland we have seen:
- Assaults up by 220% since 20151
- Break Ins up by 54% since 20151
- Car theft up by 116% from 20151
Youth crime is hurting our community financially, too.
The more crime in your postcode, the more insurance premiums go up. And people can’t go to work if their vehicle has been damaged or stolen.
Now more than ever we need to stand together as a community and tell the Palaszczuk-Miles Labor Government to get serious about tackling youth crime.
Our Making Queensland Safer Plans includes:
- Adult Crime, Adult Time to restore consequences for actions for youth offenders and hold them accountable for serious crimes
- Removing detention as a last resort to unshackle the courts and deliver sentences in line with community expectations.
- Increasing the number of police on the beat, through retention and better resourcing.
- Staying on Track program to provide up to 12-months of intensive support for eery youth transitioning back into the community after detention.
- Putting the victims' rights first by providing automatic updates, removing the burden on victims to see out information about their cases.
The LNP will re-establish the stability and safety Queensland communities deserve, instead of the chaos and turmoil we’ve experienced under Labor.
That’s why I have launched my Crime petition. Please sign this petition, and share it with your friends, family and colleagues.
Together, we can send Labor a strong message to get tough on crime.
